The growOTAGO project comprehensively maps the Otago region's climate and soils. It provides information that can be used to improve existing land uses, develop new high value land-based activities and foster regional economic development, through optimising the use of Otago's varied climate and soils.

The online maps include 92 climate maps and 4 soil maps that were produced for the growOTAGO project, as well as topographic maps and aerial photographs. There is a legend and text explaining each map.

growOTAGO was developed by the Otago Regional Council, using the scientific expertise of NIWA, AgResearch, Landcare, and the universities of Otago and Auckland. These organisations used the latest climate modelling and mapping techniques, including satellite technology to develop these maps. This website and the growOTAGO Maps CD-ROM were developed by Integrated Mapping.
